On September 8 & 9 we could celebrate the already fifth anniversary of our traditional Fall Gathering at our yard in Prottes. Blue skies and warm late-summer temperatures brought more than 500 visitors who saw our vehicle collection with the well-known classics but also newly arrived models. Our field kitchen made sure nobody left hungry, and a lot of our guests enjoyed riding along on M4 High Speed Tractor, ATS 59 G, BV 202 and Pinzgauers.

Right on the morning of the first day, Johann Hetterle arrived with his spectacularly well-preserved Steyr Type 680 M prototype, which was transferred to our collection and from now onward will complement our Steyr military vehicle line (also see the article “Traditionsverband Acquires Steyr Type 680 M Prototype”). We are especially happy that we could come to an agreement to preserve this unique piece of Austrian military vehicle history and have properly celebrated this event!

A special welcome was given to our friends from the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion stationed in Mistelbach, visiting us on Saturday. Long talks bridged the gap from historic vehicles to the Battalion’s current tasks and challenges.

The president of our sister-organization “Friends of the Deutschmeister-Battalion”, Robert Spevak, also dropped in and provided us with a photo-opportunity bridging three generations of Army history – from Imperial Austro-Hungarian times a hundred years ago to the Austrian Army after WW2.
