Steyr 680 M TROLF on Temporary Loan to the Stadtmuseum Traiskirchen

Steyr 680 M TROLF

Since November 7 2018 our Steyr Type 680 M TROLF is on temporary loan to the Stadtmuseum Traiskichen, located in a special sector of the museum dedicated to the history of Austrian firefighting.

The setup and organization of this special exhibition has been started in 1988 by Mr. Heinrich Gutmann, honorary fire chief of the city of Möllersdorf and father of our advisor Col. (ret) Günther Gutmann. Since then if has evolved into a huge collection of firefighting memorabilia and hardware, since September 9 2000 it has been located in a historic building of the old Möllersdorf textile works. The exhibition is continuously being expanded, and our TROLF (which stands for „Trockenlöschfahrzeug“, or dry-powder firefighting vehicle) will complement the army firefighting section. The vehicle had been in service with the support company of the Aigen airfield in Austria’s Styria province, part of the Army helicopter squadron stationed there.

The firefighters‘ mueseum is open to the public every Tuesday, Sunday and on holidays between 8:30 and 12:30, Special tours can be arranged outside normal visiting hours.

We Complete our Collection of Historic Steyr Military Vehicles – Type 580 g has arrived!

Happy on the way „back home“ in Styrian morning fog

On November 2, our „Transportation Chief“ Peter Klausner brought the most recent Addition to our Collection of historic Steyr Military trucks. Accidentally we had found the very vehicle that we had on Display for the „50 Year Army Command Vienna“ five years ago up for sale in Austria’s Styria province. A couple of phone calls later, our transport was on the way to collect it, and so the old Type 580 g proudly completes the Steyr line in our Collection – from 380 through 480 all the way to the 680 prototype also recently arrived.

Traditionsverband Acquires Steyr Type 680 M Prototype

Steyr 680 M Prototype

When in early 2018 the long-term owner of the surviving Steyr Type 680 M prototype decided to somewhat reduce his collection and address other projects, he approached us to ensure that this vehicle would find a new home where it would continue to be preserved in its (perfect!) original condition. After only short negotiations, the vehicle came to us on September 8 and will now complement our existing collection of the Steyr military vehicle line, starting with the Steyr Type 380 and 480 and running up to the Steyr 12 M 18.

Again Supporting the Austrian Army During Austria’s National Day 2018

Steyr 680 M3 and Steyr 480 on the Freyung in the center of Vienna

As is already a long-standing Tradition, some of our historic Vehicles again supported the big presentation of the Austrian Army in the Center of Vienna during the National Day festivities.

A Steyr Type 480 and a Type 680 were well-received Photo backdrops and reminded visitors of how the Army looked like fifty years ago.
